Dare to be different
| In the
previous talks, we established the need for security in certainty about
oneself and the lack of fear in the knowledge that G-d runs the world. A
person with these foundational strengths may choose to stay home in the
surety of whom or what he is.The third verse/ principle tells us that the
security we have is there to enable us to move on and make changes like a
child safe and secure at home is empowered to leave home and seek his
fortune. Rather than make Egypt a safe haven for Jews, G-d took us out of there, with all the disruption and turmoil that involved, telling us to make a new beginning, become different, not just from Egyptians but also different from what we were then. Constant growth and change is the theme of Chanukah with increased numbers of candles but also the theme of Judaism according to the Rebbe. |
